This discussion scared me now.
I came in US on 06/03/2001. When I came I was told, no project for me right now and I have to wait. I waited till 09/11/2001 WITHOUT pay.
The first time I was on my company payroll was in 09/11/2001. Since then as of today I am working continously.
AM I IN PROBLEM?
Please comment and give me hope.

Well, that's the job of the media. Our job is to get GC. Although the issues are true, I would still prefer having absolutely correct articles, so no anti-immigrant could point his/her finger saying "look, immigrants are spreading lies". Just like we bashed them when they were claiming that we pay less taxes. It was a good point to discredit them.
Media always narrates and presents it in a form where the commoner can understand, it needs spice.
Let us hope that we get more media attention and people start listen to us.

I am still waiting for FP notice, i got my EAD/AP/RD, for both of us.
It was filed @ NSC on July 6th, ---> CSC -----> NSC. I got my LUd on 09/21 last on our 485.

You are absolutely right that
getting a masters from the US does in no way prove that US needs us more than others (in light of EB law), or we are any smarter or more capable than people who did masters or even under grad from their home country..
My argument in favor of having a separate US Masters quota is that the universities will back it to increase their dwindling enrollment and to stop some programs from dying.

I bet a lot of people are praying very very hard for their greencards.
I would like to request them to invest in concrete steps. Give monetary support to IV. Form, or join, a local state chapter. Go meet a lawmaker or his staff. Call them up and talk to their staff. Pray only if you have done all or some of the above. As they say, God helps those who help themselves. Keep up your end of the bargain, and then ask God (of the Holy Flying Spaghetti Monster, or whatever) for help.

My checks got encashed yesterday.My application reached at NSC at 8:26 A.M. on july 2,2007.It looks like they are working on our applications.As long as our papers are filed correctly,we shouldn't worry.I was also anxious like you. Just have patience.

A big weight off my shoulders. Much more freedom in getting new jobs. Easier to travel. Planning to buy a house finally!!!

Went out with friends and just enjoyed the feeling of freedom

The feeling of uncertanity was terrible. Had to put lots of stuff on hold, like buying a house.

I just called USCIS customer service to get it clarified for my case - applied 485 in July 07 and used AC21 in Aug 08. My 485 got approved Aug 6th 2010.
The first level officer said I am free switch. When I told that I have heard I have to stick to my current employer for 6 months or so, she put me on hold to check with supervisor. Then transferred me to 2nd level IO.
After almost 1hr wait, the second level IO confirmed I am free to switch. She got my receipt no and checked the status and mentioned I should get my card in week or two and I am free to switch.
Again, as mentioned I already invoked AC21. It will be good to hear from ppl who have not and if it makes any difference.

Hello All,
I suggested this in my last two posts and I am suggesting this again. Emails , faxes to Rep will not create visibility of the problem. What we need to do is, do something big, like a DC rally again. One of the benefits behind doing this will be, everyone in this country i has their eyes on DC for presidential elections. Hence more visibility for us.
Secondly the topic of these three bills is hot, if we don't do anything now, it will turn cold, and then will be forgotten.
What we really need is a huge volume of high skilled workers in DC, not just a handful. Please let us all get together in DC again and push for these bills. We will get a lot of visibility. How about sending flowers to congress members?
Please let us all act on it!!

I do not know in which city of India you took out your PPF.,
But I heard you have to pay atleast 5% to get PPF back in Hyd.,
Hope corruption will not be that high by next 20 years in India!!
I can attest to that. It's not unusual to have to pay bribe from 10-25% to get the PPF money. And even that takes weeks/months to complete. I've personally known relatives in India who had to do that. It's not even considered anything out of ordinary there. Good Luck R2I's.

only reason USCIS can afford to do it is becoz they are not accountable (As we are not a vote bank)...
But with IV on our side, we can make them streamline their procedures and work efficiently - whcih has never been a priority.
