Car Loans and Home loans are called secure loans. If you do not pay the monthly premium, they have the right to get the car or home from you. So, a person, leaving behind a car/home and going back to home country is not doing anything criminal. He is playing by the rule. Of course, these acts would shine on his/her credit report for a while.

I didn't think that EB3 ROW will be "Current" in June. What I meant was that Illusion's PD will be current because he is only 3 months away from May cut off dates.
This is the selfish part of me speaking but I hope they don't become current but move to April 2008 or something similar.
If EB3 ROW is current then that opens up the numbers to EB3 India and China and we saw last year that India alone got 17K approvals so that cuts from the number of ROW approvals.
Again ... it's the selfish part of me ... in a perfect world, nobody would have to wait this long or make these claculations ...
I'm happy for all the people that get that "card ordered" email but I so hope to get one for myself!!!!

From then on, you, who don't contribute now, will have no organization to speak up for you.
From then on, you will complain your situation in your company, seeing your peers get promoted while you get stuck in the same position because of your GC application.

Maybe, at that time, you will say to yourself, "if I have contributed to IV in that special year, if all people like me have contributed, we would have get our GCs. Then, maybe, my life would have been totally different..."
Let me also tell you what you can lose if you contribute.
Your immigration status will NOT become worse, if it cannot get better.
The only thing you will lose is about $200 or less if you contribute $20/month. It will happen this year or never! If it does not happen this year, you can always withdraw your subscription.
I believe many people would pay $20,000 to buy a GC if possible. If IV brings 1% chance to help pass the bill, $200 is a very fair price! Besides, I believe the opportunity cost for people who has no GCs is probably more than $20,000 a year, considering a potential promotion or a job change. For those people, don't you think $200 is a very reasonable price to buy yourself a 1% chance?
Besides, the chance that IV brings to us is much much higher than 1%!
You are all high skilled workers. You can do this math very well!

Appended to the Minimum wage bill was SA187 which amends SA112 sponsored by John Kerry and consponsored by Sununu, Snowe, Landrieu and Lieberman.
Senate Amendment SA 187 seems to have passed with unanimous consent. This is what it apparently contains among a lot of other stuff... Please correct me if I am wrong.

If that's the case and if that becomes a law, there is possibility there will be no backlog after that for some time...short time probably. Please correct me if I am wrongly reading this section. But for me, it appears it applies retroactively and will add the diffrence (150k a year) between years 2001-2005. If my calculation and understanding is correct, once this act becomes a law, the first year there would be 290k + 600k from years 2001-2005 ......I am not sure if my understanding is correct. How do you know that US masters degree dont need to work for consulting firms?
Do US masters degree holders work for Deloitte? IBM Global Services? Accenture? KPMG? Price Water House Coopers?
What about Oracle consulting services? What about TRW? Bearingpoint?
All these are consulting companies or the divisions of consulting companies. Both US degree holders and the non-US degree holding duffers like myself work in consulting firms(I dont anymore since 2003). In fact, I have had my classmates from India have to look for consulting jobs after they did MS in computer science from USA.
You are under the impression that the bill is outlawing desi consulting firms and firms that exploit.
The bill outlaws OUTPLACEMENT. And the bill applies to all firms, desi firms and the big 5 consulting firms and your IBM, TRW ... everyone.
Please read the bill and read the description in the first post.
And although I am the last one to engage in US-degree versus non-US degree and Masters Versus Non-Masters fueds, I am tempted to say that US masters or US degree isnt worth a bucket of warm spit when the market is bad.
When the market is really bad, like it was in 2001 and 2002, I have seen many Masters degree holders pack up and throw in the towel and I have seen many individuals with degrees from private Tier 3 university from India survive just fine in an environment where there were 80 resumes for each IT job. The US masters degree holders, particularly with computer masters degrees with their courses in useless subjects like "assembly level programming" and their binary math didnt do squat for them while looking for jobs during recession times and could not stand competition from bachelor's degree holders from Tier 3 university from India who had done 6 month course in NIIT.
However if you are proud of your US degree and US masters, suit yourself. But dont say things like "I dont need consulting". Coz you really do and so do thousands of others having US degrees.

In addition I passed MS in 2001 and alongwith many others went through the same period of 2001 job market!

i don't get it you are saying that members don't have to search...and yet someone has to keep it up on the home page...which is it? yes a sticky thread would have saved work and not required someone to keep it up. Why wasn't it done in the first place. When a service is supposed to be offered every week...it should be offered every week...or else there should be an announcement that is will not be offered this particular week and that it will continue next on said week.
No reason to be frustrated when people are asking simple questions...another idea would be to put the answers to the most frequently asked questions on the FAQ page...which does not work right now....so that you don't have to repeat the answers.
Its an easy solution i think.
Giving a long lecture of frustration is not the best way to attract people to an organisation.
Think about it...do u go buy clothes from a store that voices their frustrations about the prices of raw material...of do u go buy it because they were nice to you...had great customer service...nice selection of goods...and fair prices.I am sorry but working for hours on end alone, voicing frustration at lack of participation, treating members like they are morons for not being able to find supposedly simple things is a really terrible way to attract more people to an organisation. The cause may be noble...but who will wanna join some organisation where people just complain about how miserable things are.
Please pause for a moment and think about what i am saying. This is exactly why you have less participation and less donation. IV needs to transform into a vibrant fun place to be while still upholding the noble cause.
Those stores are making profit by selling you goods/services. IV is a non-profit ogranization and no one is making any profit here. I came to IV through google when I was searching on some immigration issues. I started reading info here and came to know what IV is about and what they are doing. I am not blaming others for not spoon feeding me.

Come to think of it, Sec. Rice said it was a case of miscommunication between the 2 agencies. Could it be that USCIS actually wanted them to make these dates current in August and DOS jumped the gun, and lot of people got screwed.

The biggest problem with lot of EB3-Is with older PDs is that they won't switch jobs and port to EB2. they will cite number of reasons for maintaining the status quo i.e their EAD status post July 07.
A handful will march to washington DC and get the senators to know them by their "first names". Others will simply chip in a few hundred bucks and make themselves feel they are the Buffets and the Gates of this world. Still others will simply fume and fret. Some will preach how porting EB3->2 means "gaming" the system.
All very experienced EB workers who think they can get the best of everything at the price of nothing. Who want everything "risk free".
Green cards in the mail and smooth upward progressions in their careers.:D

I am not really sure how this will help people in the queue ?!? The people waiting forever and in need of most help are ones from 2002, 03 etc. This provision gives away GC's to recent grads (some who may not have even applied for GC yet !) while so many from a decade ago desperately have to wait for infinity.
This Bill will help ALL people, not only the people who have an advanced degree from US!. With the addtion 55k, the people who have an advanced degree will get the green card immediately. Then, they will be out of the queue. Then all the existing anual visa quato will be allocated to the guys who don't have the advanced degree. This is a great bill for all EB forks. If this bill can be passed, the EB2 will be current . and EB3 will be current in two years. some people just didn't get it.

Hi,
I saw response from one of the moderator.
I think that we need to point out to law makers that employment based petitioners are being differentiated from citizens . Whlie in their case the date of child is frozen on the date of the I-130 application, why not same treatment should be given for I-140.
I again hope our Core Team members will take up this issue.
