Quick Chain of events .
India rejected both Boeing and Lockheed Martin's proposal of fighters . I am not debating the reasons or the merits of this decision if this was right or wrong . I am just discussing the potential repercussions this has had so far and might have .
'Exclusion of US firms from IAF jet deal a setback for ties' (http://www.indianexpress.com/news/exclusion-of-us-firms-from-iaf-jet-deal-a-setback.../783401/)
1) The issue is so serious that Tim Roemer , US Ambassador to India submitted his resignation immediately since he was on the hook for making this deal work .This shows the measure of disappointment they had.
2) India was seeking US assurances in security a Permanent Security council seat , which looks far fetched now .
4) Pentagon , Whitehouse and the DoD very upset that deal fell through . This sentiment will certainly percolate to the USCIS and the State department and might embolden Anti Immigration senators whose measures will get more support in the house and senate.
5) Prosecution of companies entangled in cases like Infosys might find more support and favor with the Govt.
Question is how/if there will be a backlash against India / Indian's get back at us at least in the short term .Increased scrutiny and visa denials , PoE Harassment , GC audits etc.
Will the US take a Tit-for-Tat reaction on this issue is what remains to be seen.
Disclaimer: I am just someone who once seriously considered getting a degree in Strategic Studies. I am not from India. If you don't like what I have to say or feel that it is not my *place* to say it, just ignore me. I will not get engaged in an online wrestling match to demonstrate my "e-toughness".
It will not have any major repercussions b/w the 2 countries or any impact on the Green Card situation. Relations b/w US and India encompass a much broader spectrum than just a large defense contract. India's economy presents enormous opportunities for US companies, there is the issue of countering China and not to mention the same view on most regional as well as international security issues. They will not get any where if they start slugging it out every time there is a lost trade deal. India has helped US in the past with Iran's nuclear program while US has shown the importance it gives India by pushing an exception from NSG in nuclear energy.
If anything I am surprised that US is surprised that they lost the bid. Both Rafael and the Typhoon are amazing platforms. I did not read the actual RFP but it is arrogance to assume that the US offerings were inherently any better than the European offerings.
@kumara121: I can assure you that Uncle Sam does not want to "..come and check the planes whenever and wherever it wanted to". If I only had a dollar for every conspiracy theory I hear from people from our part of the world (Pakistan, Indian, Bangladesh) I would have been in Eb-5 years ago :)

I saw the show yesterday. It is very sad that people like lou dobbs are twisting the facts by saying around 700,000 H1b visa holders are overstaying in USA. Also on that show one senator named "TOM" forgot his lastname, is saying the same and also that guy even did not know how long H1B is valid, he says it is valid for 5 years after that H1b visa holder become illegal. These kind of people spread hatered among common people against immigrants. is there way, we can sue these guys for their racist remarks/ misleadeing information?

Let us see if we can get at least 200 people who vote on this. Many the great souls are talking about complaining to USCIS about EB1s getting GCs using shortcuts. Some of them suggested LET US write to ombudsman office and USCIS & blah blah. Let us see how many folks come forward and vote for this.

....I am not sure why someone is portraying Infy or Wipro as companies that go for "Easy money..." that's completely ridiculous. Agreed they are not doing lots of so called high-end R & D projects and majority of thier revenue is still from service industry. But that does not make these companies any lesser.
I am not sure how much insight you guys got into these companies, but they are doing quite a lot of good assignments. Also, the processes they got in place & the maturity they show in execution of assignments is definitely on par with any other software services company in the world.
Probably a bunch of you folks are frustrated with these companies because the billing rates are driven down & opportunites in US (for consultants) are becoming less due to these companies' offshore model - but that does not make these companies shallow as you are trying to portray.
PS: I am not an employee with either of these companies. FOr that matter, none of these offshore-based companies. But the facts are to be accepted.

I meet many workers from these "great" companies at my workplace and see them being treated just as "low cost alternatives" and nothing else by this huge financial company in NY/NJ area. Because of their (INFY, TATA, Wipro, Satyam) "low billing rates" these guys cant afford good lifestyle. And back home in India INFY and TATA CEOs make billions and talk BIG. I've not met any TATA, Satyam guy here who is happy with their employer. They just hate their employers and always looking for a change. I wonder where they stand in terms of employee satisfaction? They treat their people like slave and send them as low cost labor. Not only that - they exploit US immigration rules and make use of L1 to keep their people long term at cliant place when they dont get enough H1.

One way is, if he/she didn't apply for extension, thats the only way. Otherthan that pay stubs, job, bench, these will not make anybody out of status. These are all trash.
As long as the employer/employee relationship exists, nobody can't do anything. This is for sure.
Let me correct it.. I read somewhere that it is considered not a major problem if some one is out of status for less than 180 days cumulatively.

What's is Frist's motive in trying to trip the McCain - Kennedy or Specter's Markup? What's his point?
Looks like in Congress, each senior senator is a leader of his own and don't tolerate or cannot see eye to eye on more serious work of fellow senators or congressman. The idea is to trip the whole effort to treat illegal immigrants as humans. In Frist and its ilk's opinion, they want the services of illegal (and legal) immigrants, but this great country doesn't want to give any benefits to the illegal aliens in return. It's is so farcical, only the feudal minded Frists' can do it. Many in this country want 'closure' for this and 'closure' for that, but they deny all relief to these illegal aliens. Our goal of relief from retrogression and to increase visa numbers is unfortunately tied to such 'comprehensive bills'.
I want users of this forum to think about it, ruminate on it and write letters to law makers, newspapers etc.

Yes, completely agree....PMP is akin to CCNA type of certifications and MBA is akin to a MS in Computer Networking. I will not go into details explaining the difference but just getting CCNA only helps you get a job, not advance in your career - where as a MS degree will always help in advancement. Ofcourse, there are exceptions and nothing is set in stone but that's the general rule of thumb.
I am not sure why the 2 are being compared. One is a professional degree while the other is a certification. MBA prepares you (in theory) for several different jobs (marketing, finance, ops, general mgmt etc.) while PMP is primarily to "check the box" on program management. With all due respect to the PMPs (and other PM credentials) I havent seen any additional skills that PMP provides.
Yes- I have an MBA and a PM certification and work with several IT PMs/techies but an not in IT myself.

Pay and move forward. Most of us have spent years to get this stage. Do not spoil it now....hopefully more $$$ will pour in once you get past this stage!
I guess most of the folks here are busy preparing to apply for 485. I have different problem here.
My employer's attorney is charging me outrageous fees of around $5000 to
apply for 485, AP and EAD for me and my spouse. This excludes USCIS fees. I work on hourly basis, so I should be taking care of immigration fees. My employer is not allowing me to file through another law firm.
Do I have any other options. How much do they charge usually.
