Pardon my ignorance Gurus.
But Hypothetical....what would be the scenario, if,
- I leave the job-A on 1st of the month.
- join new job-B on 2nd of the month (very next day) but new employer wants me to complete 30 days before providing medical insurance
- my job-A insurance company sends me COBRA option in two weeks time as required by law
- Prior to I fill and send out the COBRA docs (roughly 2 - 3 weeks), I have to make some urgent visit to doctor...say in 1st week (say, on 4th of the month)
- will my job-A company will deny this claim as they only received my COBRA paperwork by 18th of the month whereas I went to doctor on 4th????

My spouse's employer had applied for H1 this year and he got a receipt number. But the check has not been encashed. Now when I checked the status in website it says the following:

On April 30, 2008, we determined that this I129 PETITION FOR A NONIMMIGRANT WORKER was not properly filed because you submitted incorrect fee. I don't care about LS. Almost all cases I know are fraud. Sometimes 2 guys got GCs on same labor(since they were not asking Original LC). Thank god USCIS banned LS.

I am still waiting for FP, i created SR, hey told i have to wait for 4-6 weeks, which is already over.
I took infopass, my name check is clear, No info abt the FP Notice.
Any one in same situation transfered cases from NSC-->CSC-->NSC not yet received FP yet.

I live in the US but I have been to canada a number of times on extended business visits, and my impression was that quality of life is very good over there. Granted, you dont earn as much money (or possess as much in material wealth, as someone put it) as in the US .. but that is compensated for by much safer neighborhoods, good social security and far more immigrant-friendly policies. The immigrants are much more integrated into society there than the US. I realize this may not be true for all regions for canada, but at least in BC and Ontario its very true. So it depends what you are after .. opportunity and earning potential are both better in the US .. but overall quality of life is as good or better over there. The quick turnaround time for permanent residency makes it very attractive for young people like me who havent already invested in settling down in the US .. I would rather live with "limited" opportunity there than remain in the US and be at the mercy of a single employer for 10 years.

Not related to this thread but I did not want to open a new thread for this question..
As you can see I am EB2-I (info above) and am waiting in line for my turn but I am just wondering if L1 route to GC is quicker? If so then how?
Not that I am trying to do it because I can not :) but I know someone who just got his GC via L1 in matter of months and here we all EB guys are waiting..

You can't. No lawyer will do so as this is fraud. If uscis is able to track it down, ie: they kept the envelope, then such a person is in trouble.

as long as emplyer employee relatioship exists u r OK..
So if u can get a letter (if REF'ed upon) from ur employer(former) that u were on Leave/vacation or whatever, during that period....u should be fine.
Go to USCIS.gov and readup on H1B FAQ and u will see this statement: Dont ask for a link....research.

Hi All FP seekers! I do not know what exactly I am missing if there is a delay in FP. It looks like hundreds of IV members are too much worried because of the 'delay' in FP. Let me worry too (by knowing the big problem!). Can any worriers explain??
On the other hand is it not better to have a late FP, so that you need not go again in the next 15 months! Anyway for most people GC is going to take years!
It's the uncertainty of the entire process that kills us...Have seen couple of users whose cases have been erroneoulsy denied since they did not went for their biometrics. Guess what, these users never received any FP notice from USCIS. I tend to partially agree with you; if the PD is no where close to being current, why worry about FP now - it's their responsibility to get us finger printed. But on the other hand, I do not want my case to be erroneously denied because of an error in their processing...

Pappu it is sad situation. I know of one Junior who I myself hired for the job and who is 4 yrs my Junior and reports to me get green card because he is EB3 but not India/China

Here are the some of the issues
1)Some credit unions will not open an account for your if you are not a citizen/green card holder
2)Same problem with Home loans some banks will not extend loans (I have personally faced these two issues)
3) With the realid act some stats are not giving driving license to non-immigrants that may have fixed but you still need to extend every year even if the state gives a license
4)You cannot get an homestead exemption(tax credit) if you buy a house
5)The latest tax stimulus package will not give tax credit to ITIN holders and with out immigrant status (or EAD) you cannot get an SSN.
As you all know we pay the taxes all kinds of taxes , help economy with our purchase power I can go on with the kind of positive things we bring to this country but for some reason we don't have any rights. I completely agree with the OP the crying baby gets the milk or cranky wheel gets the oil first. Every one if you don't fight for it we are not going get any thing. but even with this big announcement tomorrow, we still only have 140,000 visas and keep in mind USCIS has just been averaging about 100,000 per year. (so about 40,000 get wasted every year)
All all this does is to push the bottleneck further down the pipeline.
