Well that depends on lots of things. If your assumption is that the PD is gonna move slowly and gradually forward, then what you are saying is true. Again, once he/she files 485, his 485 is not going to be processed immediately. AP, EAD may be issued but it may take 6-9 months for 485 to get processed.
However, if PD moves so much ahead that your PD is also current, then you will get your GC (if other processes are complete) whereas he/she would have just filed 485.
I completely agree with you. Without all these process, u cannot get GC even if you have PD. I think we all are in a fix.

Dont worry...we are not alone. Infact, we (I and my wife) are going through this phase as we speak.
1) As someone else pointed group insurance is the best option so far in my research.
2)** Chk out this site: http://www.aim.ca.gov/english/costs.html I am planning to apply soon hoping that we will qualify
3) Call a OBGYN and tell them that you dont have insurance, generally they will suggest a community center kind of a place where you can get started with prenatal care, such as re-confirmation, ultrascan etc
4) Call the hospital for the payment plan and get into it.

I support this action item.
Here is my story. I came to US in 2001 and was able to get the visa stamping done in US twice. My visa expired in 2005. Since the revalidation in US is stopped in 2004, i did not go to India until i received my AP in 2007. This is because i know couple of friends (brothers) who were stuck in India for almost 3 months when they went for marriage in 2005. So i decided not to take the risk. I went to India in 2008 and returned back on AP.
Now i cannot use AP anymore because my I140 was denied by USCIS. This is for sure an error by USCIS. In the denial letter they said my company applied for X number of green cards which is not true. Green cards applied by the company are too low compared to the number provided by the USCIS. My appeal is pending at AAO. If the revalidation of visa can be done in US, i can get it stamped and visit the family in India instead of waiting for the decision on the appeal.

There are not many EB3 approvals so far. It means USCIS doesn't have many cases in their inventory with cut-off date of Oct'08 VB so I hope DOS move the EB3 cut off dates forward in Nov'08 bulletin and more cases become eligible.

I-485 is mainly for status change stage to check criminal background (not job related :) ), FP and name check. They won't check much on job.
It is all straight forward and only a time consuming stage. Thats all. Enjoy the AOS pending stage.

Consider this example. It is possible that I-140 is approved in Dec 2005 and I-485 is filed in July 2007. There can be big time lag between I-140 and I-485.
I-140 is mainly matching job requirement to employee' skill set and experience and ability to pay for the employer. It does NOT check for out of status issues. I hope you know that person may not be US for I-140 to be approved.
I-485 is, like it says, adjustment of status and it checks for status issue. Please refer to section 245 in detail. Section 245(k), for example, applies to I-485 (and not to I-140).
Please confirm with your lawyer and get your info right.

If you get re-married before GC, then your wife is eligible under employment quota with your PD. It does not matter if she is in India or USA. The critical thing here is your marriage date should be before your actual GC receive date.

Helo all,
My mom had filed for an F2B category immigrant visa for me. Consequently, I attended an interview at the US consulate in Chennai, India and was given 221 (g) blue slip and asked to wait. When I contacted the embassy after 3 months I was asked to wait as my case is under administrative processing due to name check.
Any idea how long more I shud be waiting, andyone in the same boat

I am not sure what a_to_z_Gc is looking for more details, but I would like to now if your case was transferred from NSC to CSC and back.
Those whose cases have transferred back to NSC have not received the FP notices. I would like to know if your case was transferred back to NSC.
My case was transferred from NSC to CSC, and then to TSC. I guess its because my I-140 was approved by TSC. I got my FP notices from TSC.

I believe Mbhai did a dis-service by negating good advice. What is the guarantee that the 2nd women that this guy marries will not ask for divorce? The best thing he can do is find a way to reconcile, unless there is marital infidility.

I would not call you pessimistic. You are SELFISH. Sure you do not share the same enthu because this announcement does not offer you anything. Grow up and feel for others. Everyone knows that there will be a backlog and that is an issue we have to deal with once we get there.
You are more SELFISH than anybody else and you lack farsight. You are the one just thinking about yourself only. What will happen to all those old guys whose labour is stuck in backlog centers. If they can't get to file this month, they have to wait for another 6 yrs before visas become available. What will happen to new filers who plan to file GC soon. They have to wait forever.

E-filed on May 5th, FP on June 6th, no updates since. Concerned as I'm working on EAD and current one expires August 29th.
Paper filed AP in late June, approved already (as per e-mail) even though I only needed it in mid October!!
