i have couple of questions.
1. currently i am on H1 and my wife started using EAD. First time i applied EAD and AP for both myself and my wife. Now, i don't want to renew my EAD but just renew my wife's EAD. Is this ok? What happens to my EAD after it expires. Will i be able to renew it in future or will i be able to apply for a fresh EAD based on my pending 485 with out a problem? what will be my status if i renew my wife's EAD alone with out renewing mine. will i still be on valid h1?
2. Similarly, i don't want to renew my AP as well as i have valid stamping for next 2 years. Is it fine to just renew my wife's AP alone? Will i be able to apply for a fresh AP in future based on my pending 485? wat will be my status if i renew my wife's AP alone?
3. Last time when i applied EAD and AP along with my 485 in Aug 2007, my application got transferred to Vermont from texas. i received EAD, AP from Vermont and then my 485 got transferred back to texas. For renewal of EAD & AP, shall i send applications to vermont or texas?

One does NOT need EAD to use AC21. I don't understand the panic.
In fact, one can be working at Employer B and can claim AC-21 for Employer C as a future job.

Apply on the date your 6 months are left. Use the couple of months before that to follow up with your employer and Lawyer and get all paperwork done and application packet ready. If lawyer or the employer is slow, then one needs to push them since ultimately you are going to be affected and nobody else.
The onus is on the H1B worker to be diligent and not leave everything to the last few months. DMV is only following the rules. Maybe some of them are not aware of the rules. The issue of not getting license despite H1B approvals, and H4s not getting DL is something one can take up as an issue with media and authorities. But just because the person did not bother to get the H1B extended until the last moment cannot be an excuse for relief when we approach the authorities.
In some situations you would want to delay filing of your H1 extension.
I did exactly this as my I140 has been delayed in background check since October 2006. I did not want to rush with filing my H1 extension as I could benefit from getting a 3 year extension instead of 1. Unfortunately USCIS never took a decision on my I-140 case till date even after I upgraded to premium processing in June. I filed for my H1B extension in regular processing on the very last day hoping I would see a I140 approval.

I even has the print out from USCIS.gov in which they have mentioned that they will honor the date on which applications were received in the mail room but he did not budge.

Because of my one of the diseases I am always worried about DISABILITY insurance.
I always try to get Short term and Long Term disability insurances through employer.
But the problem is they always start with long preexisting exlusions and when you change jobs they dont continue so have to start new one which also has other new preexisting exlusions to start.
You can convert your longterm disability to the personal policy if you have that for long time. but they are not valid if you get new job.
Is there any private/personal (not employer sponsored) Short and long term DISABILITY Insurance policies that we can purchase out side of the job.? How are the premiums? Are they reliable?

This process is a mockery of the PD cutoff dates, but that's how it works. If you sent your case on June 28, 07, with July 2, 07 as the printed Receive Data on your receipt, but the case where it finally rested, was entered in their database on Oct. 28, '07 (with a Notice Date soon thereafter), you case will not be looked at, no matter what the PD cutoff date is, unless all cases received before Oct. 28, '07 have been reviewed.
Exactly, it is a mockery, they are playing with carrers, time and our money on H1 extenstions , EADs and Advance paroles.

It would be great to have premium processing for 485s instead now that visa nos are available. Now now ... i know thats wishful thinking but think about it-could save a lot of time and money over EAD/AP/FP renewals. But then again hurts their income stream thats why they wont do it :((
why would it hurt their income stream...when theyll charge u rpremium fees for fast 485 processing..it will be cash in teh bag in the first go rather than waiting over the years for EAD/AP renewals.

I know many of us are frustrated because of EAD delay. I am one of them and today I called up USCIS.
Here is the sequence.
1) 1 800 375 5283
2) 1,2,2,6,1 receipt notice# 1,3,4
3) you will have to wait for 10 to 15 minutes and one of the officer will come online for you.
4) at least they will give you information about your case ( mine is sent to some storage and they had to issue an expedite request to get it processed again. I am july 2 filer with notice dat of sept 8,2007 3 infopass apointments, 1 SR). the officer has access to look at the file and can give you appropriate information( they are not like regular service agents who will read what you see on USCIS.gov).
5) as of now they told me that I will information from USCIS in 2 weeks.

Why don't we all campaign to ask for a time out on all immigration. Just stop all immigration until it is fixed. :D:D
Because accordiing to your post you want your geencard but do not want others who filed in perm to proceed further.
In my proposal, if I cannot get my greencard, then nobdy else should. This is more fair.:D

We all know, Priority Date is not used for prioritising approvals. It is just a date on your application, which can stop your application from progressing further, if looked at, at the wrong time. Why not simply ask for approving in PD order.

The recorded message at NVC says that on july 2nd they generated the fee bill and it was sent to my attorny. How long does it normally take to get the fee bill through. We are in the last week of jully now that 21days so far.

Hello Gurus,
I too have changed employer (B) from july 1st and have not yet filed AC21.
I have contacted attorney (who filed my GC and I-485) and he said he needs an authorization email from my old employer (A) to proceed further. I have asked my "A" for the authorization email and he is acting like he is not getting my emails. He is not answering my phone calls, even by mistake if he answers my call he is saying he will call me back, but never called me. i dont know whether he will revoke the I-140 which was approved in around April 2007.
I don't know what exactly I need to do in this situation like to wait for old employers' call. He was very nice when I was his employee, but from the moment I left the company, he is a changed man.
What are my best choices in this situation?
BTW, I have paid all the legal expenses for H1s and GC processing.
Looking forward to Guru's replies....

it depends on who is in which category ..I feel the above (1 -2 -3) is unjust ..not that I/we can influence how it flows. my view is that the category which is at the end should get more visas ...and I would support this even if things change tomorrow (EB3 current and EB2 severly retrogressed or EB-wwide - retrogressed ..not that it will ever happen !!)
