We have had phone and email campaigns in the past. Phone campaigns work the best when a specific bill is being debated and there is the target 2-3 days campaign. The rest of the time, person-to person presentation is the best.
Yes, I'm in for person to person too. Will check the NY chapter.
The next step is to motivate others. Maybe persons would be more interested if we go out in small groups. Combine it with some other activity. Sometimes travel for chapter meetings can get tough for some, with families, could combine with skype.
There was also a hidden joke about outsourcing phone calls ;)

I want to add 'Family and Relatives pressure' in addition to 'Peer Pressure'. When I visited India lasttime, I was asked by almost all the relatives if We had bought a house. It has become an indication if we are doing well (earning well). After a while, i felt little bit uneasy to say that we did not buy house while many of our cousins already did. thats family pressure.
Other than for monetary reasons, there is a small group of people, who do not buy house even if they can afford to and live in apartments
- still not decided where to settle down,

- think it is lonely to live in a big house with unfamiliar neighbors.
- have small kids, takes lot of time to meet their needs after work, daycare. cannot take the burden of maintaining a big house.

So was the billed passed or not? Logiclife said "NO", but certain members still say its passed.
Shall we now leave this aside and continue working on our goals or should we take a little time off to celebrate yet?
If at all the bill is passed yesterday then we should congratulate ourself for this wondeful job by IV.

Thanks. I missed you. I think I should have seen you but can't remember. Since morning at least 10 people who i have talked to from Tri-State area asked me if I know where is chanduv23? they just wanted to see the great motivator like you. Please point me to the picture where I can find you. Your posts on the IV forum have been an inspiration for lot of folks. It takes people like you to form a group of wonderful hardworking folks.

Actually today I received my CPO e-mail, so I will go down through my list! But anyway,
1. You can contact your local congressman and explain your situation
2. You can visit your local USCIS office through an Infopass appointment
3. You can file an ombudsman form (google it)

-Stop counting dependents against quota
-USCIS backlog should be transparent so one can predict his turn.
-Remove Country cap. Its unfair for people born in india to wait decades while other nationals get their visa almost immediately.
Family reunion should be very important. I am separated from my wife for 3 years now because of Jul'2007 fiasco. Sent many letters to Senators, President, vice president but nobody is bothered to look at my case

I understand that. However, apart from canvassing the support for CIR by writing to senators, lawmakers, in what capacity can IV influence USCIS to take up EB-3 cause?
Even if IV has intentions to ameliorate our pain, is it truly capable to influence the agency to do something for only one specific category ? At a micro-level, we EB-3 need to do something about changing our situation ourselves, lest we stand in the filthy excreta for eons. :mad:

I was under impression that being on H1b u cannot do intra-day trading.. you can do only routine trading (don't know exact term) in which u buy stock and keep it for some time and sell it .. generally 3-4 days..
while on H1-B status, one can do intra day trading in stocks, options, and/or futures, he/she can NOT claim trader status on federal tax return. Person on EAD can claim trader status and claim some trading related expenses to save tax on it.

Not sure why people who e-filed in May and June are still waiting their approvals while people in July are seeing approvals.

It was great meeting and working with everyone especiallyJay,Aman,Himanshu,Vandana,Prateek,Nilli, Vandana,Mark,Tamsen,Puneet (yes- I am being nice to you inspite of the lawyer jokes u crack at my expense!!!),Anil,Sanjeev,Rajesh, Macaca (yes I was a bit too hard on you :) but it was all in good spirit) and of course my friend Meenal. I just want to thank a few volunteers who worked on lobby day meetings with me but could not attend the lobby day or the rally day-Fora,Vasu and Payal. We are all so glad the lobby day meetings and the Rally went well. It really shows what we can do when we all get together. Kudos to IV and its members!

I guess next time you can ask "Will I hear from you in 60 days?", then you might know if you are closer.
Perhaps we all can use that line to kind of* figure out how close we are lol :D , provided that our PD is current that is.
