I have some happy news. I received the welcome email today. I am so so so happy!!! I haven't received the card ordered email yet but hopefully I will get it soon.

Hahahaha... that's my ironic laafter!
Every one got a nice GPL again this month - yet no one really wants to do anything... why?
Because "Chal raha hai to chalne do" ... the usual Desi mentality...
All this sounds crude - but its true. Truth is almost always bitter... like the VB every month!
I just donated to IV ... gimme REDs if you want, I care the least ... all I really care about is the GREEN (card)...
Good luck fellowmen, we are all together in this boat - all we need is a mass awakening for the lawmakers to our state of being!

Advocacy is a long term process that requires lot of efforts and resources. We should not be expecting quick results because of one month's contribution. That is peanuts when you compare it with the amount being spent against us.
It is high time people join the state chapters and try to lead them if your state chapter is dormant or inactive. Action items will happen but we need to be ready. Try to get more people in IV. The mantra for success will be mass participation in the coming times. It should not be a couple of hundred phone calls or faxes that happened last year, but hundreds of thousands of calls, faxes and thousands of meetings.
If we can achieve that then we will definitely increase chances of success significantly this year.
This community needs to think how it can increase mass participation on IV and bring everyone waiting in line on IV platform.

Like I said you can start at the same pace as you normally walk from your car to your office. Do that for 20 mins or 30 minutes this week and we will increase the pace very slowly and add a few minutes each day. Also always listen to your body and do what your body can. it is very important to respect our body's limitations. I have learnt that the hard way

When I see EB3-China data in USCIS's work sheet I am getting shocked. How come EB3-China has a such a low pending number particularly comparing with Eb3-India?
That is the first point for me to generate doubts about the accuracy of the data.
Because! Most of the Chinese come to US to do MS and mostly apply in EB2. Not many come to US from China to work after Bachelors. Where as a lot of Indians come to work after bachelors and working in Indian companies for some time and so there is huge number of EB3 applications for India. Hope this makes sense???????

So far, there is no provision of 485 filing without priority date becoming current. Has this failed too? Just two weeks before Feb. 15th. I guess the fate of this provision is determined now.
It seems that nothing can happen before Feb. 15th. Even the H1 increase has not happened yet. Democrats do not seem to be immigration-friendly as many expected before. No hope for CIR this year. No hope for SKIL this year. What a miserable situation!

If someone is offered a job at a non-profit year round church camp, what visa can they get to allow them to work for 2 years. obviously proof of intent to return will be required but is there a special visa available?

add to that aman's lost bags and cell phone and constant attempts to call akhil to retrieve his wallet...poor akhil arrived back huffing and puffing and in mortal panic...later we discovered we had his home phone number and had been leaving messages on it for 2 days...and wondering why in the world he would not pick his phone up!
It was a unique situation.........
me and my wife were coming back from a lawmakers meeting and found that Aman was waiting for his wallet as the luggage was in my car...........
while walking fast she scratched her ankle badly and was not able to walk properly............ so i made her sit at an intersection and ran towards the hotel............ then had to rush back to get her, as i had asked to her wait at an intersection....
was fun and by the time i reached back i was like all huffed/puffed up and she was laughing at me...........

Yes. I need an answer for that as well. As part of concurrent filing can we not just submit I-485 as I-140 is already being processed.

Chaya, We are going back to India on personal choice. My manager here knows very clearly that I cannot take up promotions and the HR does not want to do eb3-->eb2 conversion. So, I took up this crap for a while, and decided to put an end to this misery once and for all. And fortunately the same company is offering me a job in India at a good designation with good compensation. Also, we were missing out (esp my kids) were missing out lot of things happening in India, which they want to be a part of. Original idea was to stay in US for 10 years and go, only difference is now, we did spend that 10 years but still dont have our GC. Another important thing that we considered was , it becomes more difficult to take this decision when we have GC in hand because, as much as it helps to stay in US, it avoids us from leaving US too, and to wait for citizenship is another 5 years from that point, which could all take easily 6 years to the minimum from today. Thats why we wanted to make it easy on us, and do this now.
Looking back, would I re-do this GC process one more time - no, but am I happy to be a part of IV - you bet I am. Thats the bottom line.
Me and husband will attend and also contribute. Will wait to register until get approval for time off from job. Any one going to DC from Baltimore can contact me so we can arrange car pool.

Somebody in the rally in fact remarked that our green T-shirts matched the idea of getting green cards...;)

Finally the much awaited SMS/e-mail came through (from TSC). My guess is USCIS (TSC/NSC/etc) is approving cases at random as long as PD is current. There is no logic to Filing date / Notice date and all that. I came on F-1 10 years back (08/03/00) and was current for 2 months in 08 with no luck..... Please be patient... I know it is been frustating after a long wait and at times to see GC get approved for folks with later PD and all that after all we are humans and feel why someone was choosen today and not me ...... hang in there and I wish u all get that magic e-mail.....
