Also, what forms do you need to apply for H4 extension? can you have 2 valid visas at the same time say B1/B2 and H4?

If you have plans to travel...could you go to the local INS office and get the AP??.AP is very important too if you are traveling.
For most cases, this is NOT an issue as they are on H1/L1/H4/L2 status while filing for I-485. They can simply travel on H1/H4/L1/L2 visa.

Unfortunately, I can't leave the US for the following reasons
a) AOS pending
b) H1 expiring soon
c) Won't get any vacation time as just joined a new job.
I am in a similar situation. My 8th year H1B expired in May. 9th Year extension is pending. No receipt yet on 485/EAD/AP for Julay 2nd filing.
Fortunately my license is expiring next year.

Afet 9/11 all immigration systems are interconnected with the state and federal court records and minute one is arrested his name is there.. 100%...Talk to an attorney in the morning and pm me.. Well I jumped a little too early :) and opened a SR in July. The following is the response I received:

I am not so sure if the CIR bill will help us. Allowing 12+ million illegals into the same system that we are in will totally screw up our chances of getting green cards. Does the bill mention anything about increasing budget and manpower for the USCIS department to handle 12+ million potential applications? Considering that large numbers of the illegals are from a country which also has a specific country quota in the GC lines, will the bill increase drastically the number of Visa Numbers available??
This bill favors the illegals so much that even reading it makes me wonder how fair the system is to those of us who follow laws and file documents on time. What's the point? All of us should just forget about the rules and go do whatever job we want to do.

I never said whole life,term could cost around $100/m if your health is reasonably good at 60's not for heart disease or kidney transplant patience.
If you are not aware you could pass on your term life insurance proceedings to your heir
one of my family member have whole life for $81/month for $1m at the age of 28 in NJ, in this plan we will get back everything we paid after 30 years.

If someone enter USA they can bring in 10K$ with them in any form, ask you parents to go to any center in india private broker or anyone and buy $$ (thye charge some amount and that is in paise if they buy $ from you at 39 then they will sell it at 39.50 or so)

Please remember to ask your other H1B friends to sign up and convince them to contribute. One person can only contribute so much but one can always ask co-workers and friends to sign up. Even those who are in their 2nd or 3rd year of H1 and have just started GC should be considered as people who will benefit from this effort. They may not realize it now, but sooner or later they would.
Download the flyer from "Resources" menu and spend an afternoon outside local indian temple or indian grocery store. Ask people to take a copy and politely say "this is for information...I am not selling you anything" -- so that they dont discard it away and at least read it. Many of people either dont know about retrogression or dont know about immigration voice that is acting to curb retrogression and labor backlogs. Out of 500,000, if we can reach 10%, its still 50,000. With 50,000 members, the possibilites of what we can achieve is sending 10,000 volts thru my spine.

To OP: You should definitely check with an immigration lawyer before you plan your trip. I don't think anyone here can give you a definite answer (unless there is someone who's gone through this him/her-self)
OP committed a crime > he paid his fine did community service > if the court thinks that's enough for his first time crime, who are we to judge?? If he repeats what he did... he wont get off the hook that easy... so I'm sure he understands what he has gotten into! lets leave it at that.
