Guys,
It seems every few weeks this discussion of VB predictions come up. Now neither Ron Gotcher nor Murthy nor Matthew Oh (or for that matter even God i think ;) ) can predict what the USCIS cut off dates will be. What is the point in debating whether Ron Gotcher is right or wrong? This is the United States, there is freedom of speech and anyone can say anything especially if it is just a prediction. We can assume a million things here, as to what the VB date should be, but will it be that? No one except the USCIS/DOS can actually confirm that.

Get one thing done is better than spreading limited resources on multiple topics. To increase immigration quotas is not achievable before presidential election is done.
Why not just focus on getting name check delay solved. It is under congress scrutiny already, all need are to add more oil to the fire.

There are things that can be measured in single dimension say on x-axis. Say you have to buy a car and you have to ask yourself a question – which car do I like to buy? Say you like Honda as compared to other cars. Your likeability of Honda or such cars could be measured on the positive side of the x-axis and likewise, if you don’t like some car, that can be measured on the negative side on the x-axis. Now, there could be another dimension to the situation, say, what is the car model in question, if it is a civic or maybe accord, accord, CRV, Odyssey, Element or whatever. Now if you ask yourself that question again – which car do I like? This time you need two dimensions to answer the question which Honda model you like and which you don’t like. Foe the sake of clarity you can do this on the X&Y-axis. But say if there is a choice of multiple colors. While it seems like a great initiative - lets take a step back and examine the "materiality" of the $5MM number........
1. Annual budget of a typical State Univ is upwards of $1Bn.
2. $5MM can pay for college education of say, 100 kids (only about 50 if you include living expenses)
So, what the message that would go out in media would actually read like is the following:
"100,000 green card applicants trying to buy their way to US Residency by sponsoring 100 kids' college education and/or contributing 0.2% of Ohio State University's Annual Budget"
To the average American worker who has lost his/her job or knows someone close who has - this would, in my mind, seem like a bribe........and make them anti-EB if they already were not.........
All immigrant and non-immigrant workers do their fair share for this country by paying their taxes and abiding by the laws of the land + they pay significant fees during their entire H1 and GC process- a proposal that involves them shelling out any more $$s would only create a sense that we are trying to buy our way in plus its not really fair on the applicants in any way.
Well, you are missing the most important point - Illegal immigrant's probably don't care about the future of the country's educational direction. Family based immigrants don't care either. However WE are EB immigrants and we value education and that is exactly what we demonstrate by doing this. We should not be looking to fund hundreds of thousands of student's college education - heck even the mighty US government cannot do that. We are not a political organization. The way this will go out in the media is - these guys could have used the money to lobby with senators or other congressmen, instead, they choose to use it for a good cause. This is highly symbolic. And the key here is to involve the first lady. The moment you involve the first lady, it become apolitical.
Oh, and btw, we are not buying our way into a GC. Nowhere did I mention that. We, EB immigrants value education and hence want to donate for an educational charity/cause. We don't expect a GC by doing this - this is highly symbolic; however if the Obama administration takes up CIR this year and we start this campaign and this happens to go to the first lady and gain media attention at the right time, perhaps the administration would include legal immigration in the CIR which would have otherwise not been included.
Timing is critical to this. If we gain media attention a few weeks before CIR comes up for debate, we might have Legal, EB Immigration included into it. And CIR this year is our only chance and hope and if EB immigration is not considered parts of CIR, then we might as well kiss our GCs good bye.

Please remember that even if BEC clears the application with 2001 priority dates. These people still need to:
1) Apply for I140
2) Have I-140 Approved
3) Apply for I-485 only if their priority date is current
4) Complete various I-485 tasks like fingerprinting, BACKGROUND CHECKS (this is a huge one and unless you are lucky you can get stranded for anywhere between 6 months to 3 years)
5) Now after completing 1 - 4 above you can expect that they will apply a visa number to the application

I am wondering everybody here is throwing stones at small consulting companies, I wonder how these people came to US surely somebody did there H1? right? People are working in big companies HP/Oracle/SAP bla bla.. but I'm sure they are not the ones who brought you guys here. I stay in an apartment OK. One day my neighbour (living downstairs) was crying with his wife and a small kid. You want to know the reason--NO PAY FOR 2 MONTHS!!!!. All his hard earned money was finished paying rent, OK and his kid was sick. No money, nobody to ask. His contractor said WAIT, WAIT and nothing else. Having personally seen this situation, I am a little concerned. Why would you be concerned in asking infosys to disclose the usage of H1bs procurred by them?? If its used properly there shouldn't be any issue. Now how microsoft uses the H1b is more transparent. How many of u working for microsoft have had any issues???

I am a july 2 filer, planning to use EAD to work in diifferent company in same profession(NOT invoking AC21). On I-485 approval want to come back to the original employer who filed I-485. my company is supporting and willing to support for any RFEs.

If you are taking a supplementary examp of one subject of your previous sumester clearly says you have not graduated on Dec 2000, but only after June 2002. I dont' think any school give away degree without completing all exams.
I have heard many such cases, people want to take advantage of EB2 and filed without meeting the requirements. But unfortunately many times they are trapped.
There is only one way, talk to a good immigration lawer. The good thing is, this is not a crime, you still have enough evidence to prove that this is a user error and you have chance to file again. Go with EB3 for safe. But ONLY A VERY GOOD IM LAWER can do this.

It is dark age for immigrants in America. They are just inventing ways to harass people. There shouldn't be a reason to issue EAD or AP in time. They have increased the fees several folds in recent years. They want us to run pillar to post for everything, be it work permit, travel document, driver's license...Just discouraging aliens to live in this country.I am trying to understand the cause for this huge delay to issue either EAD or AP. Could it be due to a large number of I-485 filers in July 2007 that the agency is unable to handle the volume of requests (either for a new one or renewal)?
Has USCIS come up with any explanation as to why there is lot of delay to issue EAD renewals or new EADs? Could it be the US economy that is causing the drag on the agency?

We have been living in a county which has implemented 287g for some time. And I believe all legal residents in my county feel safer because of its implementation. Sure, there is a chance that 287g can be misused by the police. But tell me one law which can not be misused by police.

I went thru the proposal in Arizona and could not find even one point which might be bad for us. Did any of you find something? I went thru the proposal in Arizona and could not find even one point which might be bad for us. Did any of you find something? Format Document (http://www.azleg.gov/FormatDocument.asp?inDoc=/legtext/49leg/2r/summary/h.sb1070_04-13-10_houseengrossed.doc.htm). I feel, IV should support such laws. We want the citizens and law abiding people in this country to support us; not the illegals.

This bill will only lead to profiling!!!!!!!!!!! and never in the world's history has profiling been good. Come out of your "slave" mentality.......... Today these laws are targeting illegal immigrants. Tomorrow what are the chances that they will do the same for legal immigrants? Or are you hoping that you will be a GC/citizen by the time such laws are proposed and implemented and there fore do not have to worry........
Read some articles that are out there against this bill - you will understand that it takes away resources to fight crime.........wonder if you will feel so safe then or do you live in a gated community?
As for nothing in the bill that is harmful to us - have you got any idea on how politics works? "You scratch my back and I will scratch yours" Find a single legislator who will take on legal immigration issue, that will not be opposed by the hispanic community and the anti immigrant community (even the ones that say they are for legal immigrants - divide and rule or have you forgotten your history lessons back home)
