I've had both kinds of accounts for years
NRE - you can only deposit funds from abroad, but cannot deposit funds into it from India. Havent repatriated back - so not so sure abt those rules
NRO - you can deposit funds from abroad & any money you receive in India - eg. if u get rent, or your PPF money etc. Bank will also deduct TDS on the interest you earn in this account. Not so with NRE. Legally, when you leave India, if you do not close your accounts, you shd change the status of ur existing a/c to NRO.
As far as the issue being faced by OP - dont know how much money we're talking abt here, but if your folks send u thru legal channels, they will have to explain why the money is being sent.

I think your company HR should get convinced for filing in EB2. The lawyer will hear what your company HR says. Yes its salary and designation that matters. I think a Senior with Masters and good salary can ask for filing in EB2. But if your HR by rule has decided that your position does not require Masters then you cannot file in EB2.
Most of the big companies have this rule. If you are with a small company and your access link to HR is not hard then you can convince them to consider for EB2.

Why should only GC holders get this 'permission'? F1, J1, L1 and H1 people should also be able to get their parents. Also, add all their dependents, H4, L4(??) whatever. We can all live as a big family then. Or, just pack up and go back to India.

did not mean to discourage, just be prepared because after the 140 is rejected, you have to start all over again and you lose time in the process. BTW, ask any lawyer, and you will hear the same about Nebraska.
also if you have an MS and are eb-3, by all means transfer to EB-2 with a high rate of success --- again accding to my lawyer.

I had applied for my daughter in April. The receipt date is 04/22. Still no luck. I am hoping that we will get the GC as my dates will be current from Ist July.

May be the senators thought that it would increase the budget size or something???
My interpretation: the vote was not on Cornyn's amendment; in response to a Point of Order raised, there was a motion to waive the Budget Act for Cornyn's amendment (the Budget Act requires 60 "Yes" votes to bring to the floor amendments to appropriation bills); if 60 senators had voted "Yes" (and agreed to waive the Budget Act requirement for Cornyn's amendment), then a vote on the actual amendment would only have required a simple majority. But because only 55 voted "Yes", the amendment failed to obtain the waiver; it was out of order because it did not qualify as an amendment to this bill.
Because 40 Dems voted no on the waiver does not mean they are opposed to the amendment; they just did not want to vote on this amendment on this bill.

You just had diploma and filed in EB2 to get GC fast. I think you took unnecessary risk of filing in EB2. It was sad that no one advised you at that time. If you would have filed in EB3 then CIS would not have asked much questions and approve I140 and I485. Anyhow you still have chance to fight and win but by the time you get GC you may lose lot of sleep. Probably it is worth to wait more EB3 than getting so much stress in EB2.

I spoke to a IO from Nebraska center ,they said my data is not in the system.She said no memo has been issued how to process the July 2nd cases,but they will process all the other cases according to VB 107.when i asked more she said she cannot give me any more information i asked her should i resubmit , she did not comment on that i was totally surprised when i asked her when the cheque will be cashed she said october, I again asked her and told her it is not for H1 b it is for I 485 again she said october.Did you any of you guys call the USCIS ??
There is no point in calling them and asking question. Each person gives different answers and they don't know what the heck they are talking about. I think it would be best if we waited 3/4 weeks more and see if we can get receipt number.
