How long we are planing to wait to get stories ? What if we dont get enough numbers to come upfront and be vocal in media ?
I think still problem is there and people who were stuck abroad now have decided not to travel untill they get GC but they are not standing up and joining hands to stop this process.

How about boycotting CNN. The immigration community should boycott CNN. That will send a strong message to CNN with there current trouble with there rattings.
How would you do that? and how would media know about the boycott? What benefits would it bring?

After reading all this, my story is even funnirer. I went to India to get engaged (arranged) when the dates became current...and not they rolled back to 1000BC.... Now I am engaged, and hearing all these wife stores feel quite screwed...lol..
reminds me of a popular hindi maxim:
"Shadi aisa laddoo hai jo khaye wo pacchataaye, jo na khaye wo bhi pacchataaye"
loosely translated in english it means
Marriage is a desert which if somebody eats it, he will repent and if somebody does not eat it, will repent too...
(thank god my 5th grade english teacher is no more in this world to see this day...he must be rolling in his grave seeing my poor english translation skills:D)

Yes you are right, there is bound to have EAD flood in market, with spouses of hi-tech worker will come to market to search hi-tech job with spouse phone support. I have seen such cases countless times in past few years and yes they will be in future without exception. However, matter of fact, these fresh EAD (previous H4) don't get the dream job in first attempt, it takes good 2 year to find a similar job that H1b hitech worker does.
But thats the realty of market, every year new jobs are added and every year new job seekers join the crowd.
On the otherside, a hitech worker is suppose to always learning something new and getting his/her position more stronger everyday, its a knowledge market, whoever knows more gets better $$. With my 7yr US exp and total 10 yrs CS exp I have no scare that any single fresh EAD will come close to me. A senior is always a senior no matter which field you talk.

however, I have some questions. You say that the officer told you that your AP was approved on Oct 1, 2007. Did you see a LUD change that day in your status. If you did, what did it say. I ask because I got a LUD change on our AP on Nov 2 but the message is still the same as it was when i got the receipt notice. No mention of AP approved.
My recetip date is August 14, and NOtice date is Oct 2, 2007. SO the TExas website states 3 months. Is it 3 months after notice date or receipt date.
I have heard people getting their AP without their online status being changed. Is this true. Anyhows, I have yet to go and do my finger prints. It is scheduled for Nov 21. Maybe they need to wait for finger print to before the AP is approved. or is this not the case.

Copanies like INFOSYS are not the culprits. This is going tangenatially. It is the local small desi body shops that suck blood and hold candidates life in their hand because of GC. They should be investigated.
All those big ones were actually small shops. Outplacement is a common practice, the intent of numbers USA and PG is to target anyone who is on H1b and not just desi shops.
So many desi shops or Amricaan shops do outplacement and pay competitive saalaries and have nothing to do with outsourcing. CIBER and Ajilon are huge outplacement companies, but very rarely indulgein visa gouging as they deal only with transfers and involve in transfers only after client agrees to hire the consultant

Make thing worse....your labor expires after six months, so you have to re-apply again..and again...and again...and again...and again....
Starting July 16th, 2007, labor certification has a 60 day validity period. Meaning, a I-140 petition needs to be filed within 60 days from labor approval date....If immigrant visa numbers are unavailable (dates retrogressed), you wont be able to file your I-140/I-485 concurrently but you can file your I-140 petition irrespective of your priority date as long as you have a labor approved. You dont have to apply for your labor again and again....Its just that, once you get your I-140 approved, you will have to wait for dates to become current to file I-485...

I did the same and got 2 more people to send them and I'm hoping for 2 more. We're a small office but any letter counts :)

Good Idea ... May be we can build on this ... making monetary contrributions will risk the appearance of "buying a green card".
How about this:
Most of us claim to be highly experienced, highly educated, in diverse fields. A while back there was an announcement about serving for the military and in exchange for the service, you get a green card/ fast track to citizenship. In a similar vein, if there is a progam in place where we commit to educate students in colleges, high schools and other accredited institutions for a certain fixed period (say 1-2 yrs), we earn the green card sooner. This would be more platable. We utilize our skills, teach students, serve the community and shows our commitment to our prospective adopted country. It fits in like a glove with what President Obama is calling on citizens to do, his "army of teachers" ready made
This way we will be able to channelize positive support and there will be nothing that antis could argue against.
I love to teach, I have taught before while completing my Masters.

It is so easy
Take a good picture in good lighting with regular digital camera
Crop the picture to square size as needed
Open it in photoshop -- make picture package - select 2x2 of 20 pics -- and save it.
Again crop it with the ratio or 4x6 selecting six pictures.
Now u have a picture which is 4x6 in size with total of six 2x2 pp size pics in it.
go to walmart - at kiosk print it... for 24 cents per copy
6 cents per picture
and again pics are of your liking ..
in between you can edit to remove shadows easily

Please think about the amount of effort that is going on to plan for this rally.
- The mental effort required to plan the logistics of such a huge event
- The physical energy required to make all this a possibility
- The amount of time the members working on this are sacrificing.. time that they could have spent with family or other gainful things
- The financial impact this is causing to the invloved members
and all just not for themselves but for all of US.
What is your contribution to this effort?

My GC got approved almost a three weeks ago. I stayed with my employer through the whole GC process till now. Now I want to move on with better job/salary.
My attorney suggested to stay with the company for atleast 6 months as it may cause issues during the citizenship application. He also mentioned, employer has the right to revoke the approved green card.
Is it really true, employer can revoke the green cards, just merely for switching jobs.
I have my doubts that they can. Did anyone else heard anything similar.
I tried looking at the web but could not find any written law by USCIS on this.

MIRAGE!!! thats a hell of surprise that your friend contractor actually spend money to sponsor H1 and also the airfare!!! amazing. Pls take a little time to visit the murthy website, which apparently now has become a place for all the desperate people to cry. There are many reported and believe me inumerable non-reported cases where the candidate themselves pay for the H1b, which is completely ilegal in the first place, OK. Now your friends brother jumped simply because he was paid below the prevailing market rate and he was better qualified. So many of those who come here through contractors are not very qualified. Anyway nothing is going to help with we arguing against each other, right? lets hope the CIR prevails and the visa system is better regulated regarding (qualifications, advertisements, pay scale, benefits etc).
